About the technology

At SAVAB’s waste suction terminal in Ursvik, Sundbyberg, there has been a plant wall that did not meet the standard since 2014. Butong won the tender to install a new plant wall with more than 10,000 plants. The Butong panels, in a gray color and a hexagonal pattern, weave together the different expressions of the building and give the front of the building aesthetic values even without plants. Below is a bench so visitors can sit down to enjoy the sun. The bench also has a hidden function of storing rainwater for watering the plants. With Butong’s green-facade system, the plants will remain prosperous and green.

The plant composition will adorn the wall with flowers from early spring to late autumn. In total, there are 67 different species, some of them edible. Strawberries, wild strawberries, lemon balm, chives and oregano will adorn the wall at pick height. In winter, the wall will have plants branches, stems, seed pods and evergreen plants.
