Butong process for Architects in English (6mb)
The production process
Development of the Butong Process started in 2006 with creating the feeling of light passing through autumn leaves in a thin panel.
Simply explained, Butong is created by pressing a molding compound between two molds with extruded cells, for example two layers of bubble wrap. In this way, we obtain a panel that is made up of two joined layers with a mesh structure.
The not yet hardened panel can, with the retained thickness, be placed on a single-sided form. This means that we can cost-effectively produce panels with an optimal thickness and any three-dimensional design in large or unique editions.

The manufacturing method, the Butong and our applications are patent pending in various regions and have been granted patents in Japan, South Africa and the USA.
