“New eatery for bumblebees and hymenopterans in the Victoria Quarter” was the headline in Wallenstam’s press release. They quickly found the new vertical park on Södra Larmgatan, Gothenburg.
Tree of Life is called the installation which is part of Wallenstam’s work in the development of the Victoria Quarter. A green element for both humans and various pollinators: bees, bumblebees and other stingrays.
The living facade is powered by rainwater that is collected and pumped to the wall when needed. The plants are carefully selected according to location and light conditions – composed to bloom during large parts of the year with qualities even in winter. The earthing also consists largely of biochar which is fantastic for plants at the same time as it binds a large amount of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
At the top of 19 panels, light has integrated with the plant wall modules and creates a life for the façade even during the dark hours of the year.
