Stockholm Water and Waste – Plants up the walls at Vantör ÅVC in Swedish
As part of the vision “Together for the world’s most sustainable city”, Stockholm Water and Waste set up a lush drought-resistant plant wall from Butong for more greenery and well-being for visitors and staff at Vantör’s recycling center.
The plants are chosen by Peter Korn and the choice was based on the conditions of the place. Species richness and long flowering times (March-October) benefit insect life. The overall impression is a budding wall that is partly evergreen.
The composition of plants benefits insect life. The plant bed consists of pumice, sand and biochar where the biochar. The biochar provides a good structure and helps to supply the plants with nutrients, in addition it is produced from Stockholm’s garden waste in Stockholm’s Water and Waste’s biochar plant.
